Creating a portfolio using Hotglue

I used Hotglue to make this portfolio of my work. Although it is a very simple programme to use it is very useful and easy to create good looking websites in a short period of time. Once a user has created an account they are automatically given a URL with their name ending with .hotglue.me. As and when the user wants to edit their page they then have to add /edit to the end of the URL to start editing as shown below.

Creating a website in Wordpress

After looking at Hotglue we moved on to creating websites using WordPress, this is important because this is a platform used by the majority of new websites now and it is a tool we will likely be using in the future.

Below is my first webpage I made using Wordpress, I simply picked a theme from the options, moved the navigation menus into the preferred position and then changed the background image.

What is Hotglue?

Hotglue is a tool that anyone can use to visually create web pages, meaning that the person operating is does not have to have any knowledge of any code like HTML or CSS. this means people can add visually stunning content quickly and effectively.

The screen shot on the right shows the tutorials page on the Hotglue website. This connotes that the type of audience the developers of this website are aiming at are small businesses and people who have do not have much experience in web design.

What is Wordpress?

WordPress is an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP. it is aimed at people who want to create a website for them or their business. Wordpress accounts for 18% of all websites now days and is the largest blogging tool in the world.
When a new user signs up to Wordpress they are given a URL ending with wordpress.com. this is for beginners and is limited compared to wordpress.org which allows for more advanced users to create more complicated sites for their businesses.

This was my first webpage, I found that not overflowing the homepage with content made it look more professional and more aesthetically pleasing for the viewer.
